On June 29, 2026, our Grade 8 English Program students participated in another exciting hands-on science session led by Dr. Wannapong Triampo.
The first activity, “Bouncy Ball Challenge,” introduced students to polymer science. Students created their own bouncy balls using Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and Borax, learning how chemical cross-linking changes the properties of materials. After making their bouncy balls, they took part in a friendly competition to see whose ball could bounce the farthest, making science both educational and enjoyable.
The second activity, “Sweet Science,” focused on the science of sugar concentration. Students brought different sweet beverages and used a Brix Refractometer to measure their °Brix values, which indicate the amount of dissolved sugar in each drink. Through this activity, students learned how scientists and the food industry use scientific instruments to analyze and compare products.
These engaging activities allowed students to experience science through experimentation, teamwork, and friendly competition while developing their scientific inquiry and analytical skills.
We would like to thank Dr. Wannapong Triampo for inspiring our students and making science come alive through these meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences.
