On June 9, 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Wannapong Triampote organized an engaging and hands-on SMART Elective Subject Activity for 21 Secondary 3 students enrolled in the STEM Elective Program. The activities were conducted from 10:20 a.m. to 2:35 p.m., focusing on Physics and Engineering STEM concepts through teamwork, problem-solving, and engineering design challenges.

The program consisted of three exciting activities:

1. Team Building Challenge: Tower Construction

Students worked in teams to design and build the tallest possible tower using only 20 sheets of A4 paper. This challenge encouraged creativity, collaboration, structural design, and critical thinking as students explored the principles of engineering and stability.

2. Electric Circuit Workshop

Students learned the fundamentals of electrical circuits by using a photo board to construct a working circuit. They connected four batteries to a motor and observed how electric current flows through the circuit. This hands-on activity helped students gain a deeper understanding of electrical energy, circuit design, and motor operation.

3. Formula One Engineering Competition

In the final challenge, each team designed and assembled its own Formula One racing car. Students built their vehicles using a cardboard chassis, attached wheels, and connected an electric motor-powered circuit. The competition was judged based on two engineering performance criteria:

The car must travel in the straightest direction possible.

The car must travel the greatest distance.

Through testing, redesign, and teamwork, students applied engineering principles to enhance their vehicle’s performance and gain valuable experience in the design process.

The SMART Physics & Engineering STEM activities provided students with an exciting opportunity to develop their scientific knowledge, engineering skills, creativity, and teamwork through real-world challenges and hands-on learning experiences.

We are proud of our students’ enthusiasm, innovation, and determination throughout the day!
