As English Week winds down, the students of M5 took to the stage of the Albert Lawrence Hall for a high-stakes Parliamentary style debate. The students engaged in a healthy, intellectual exploration of the motion: “The House would abolish compulsory patriotic ceremonies in Thai schools, including the daily flag ceremony, the singing of the national anthem, and similar patriotic rituals and replace them with civic and global citizenship education.”

With facilitation and guidance provided by class teacher Mr. Jonathan Presland, the rigorous session was evaluated by our panel of judges: Mr. Andrew Taylor, Mr. Sebastian Bennet, and Mr. James Churchward.

It was an exceptionally tight competition between both parties, showcasing the students’ critical thinking and oratorical skills. Ultimately, Mr. Sebastian Bennet (Head of Foreign Teachers) delivered the news that the Government team had secured the victory. Congratulations to the winning team on a stellar performance, and to all students for a truly positive and competitive debate.
